Voices Against Violence

This curriculum was developed by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and UN Women, with input from 20 pilot Member Organizations and two WAGGGS World Centres. It has been developed for worldwide use and can be delivered to girl-only or co-educational groups from the ages of 5 to 25 years. It provides a wide variety of activities that can be selected to respond to different contexts, learning needs and objectives.

Strengthening conservation and management of Lumbini,the birthplace of Lord Buddha,World Heritage Property

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, a World Heritage Property is located in the Rupandehi district of the Lumbini Zone, which is situated in the plains of Southern Nepal. Lumbini was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1997 as the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. This is evident from the inscription on the Ashoka Pillar. The UNESCO World Heritage Property, as inscribed in 1997, is limited to an area of 130 by 150 metres around the main archaeological remains that testify to the location of the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

UN Cares Nepal on "Zero Discrimination"

Coordinator for Nepal and Bhutan led the observance of World AIDS Day with a series of events for staff members and families. The event also provided an opportunity for UN Cares to reach to our families and increase their awareness and understating on the new facts related to HIV and AIDS.The events were participated with enthusiasm by the children and spouses of UN staffs.On 30 November 2013, an Interactive session for children was organized focussing this year’s message of “Open up reach out, zero discrimination and transform”.

Assessment of Media Development in Nepal

UNESCO’s pioneering base-line study “Assessment of Media Development in Nepal” was launched on 19 December in Kathmandu, amid a programme attended by media policy makers, academicians, journalists and government officials. The study undertaken between 2011 and 2013 provides comprehensive material to analyze the country’s media landscape. Using a multifaceted system of indicators, the study assesses Nepal’s print, broadcast and online media under five categories.

The Nepal HIV Investment Plan 2014-2016

The Nepal HIV Investment Plan is not the product of an academic or scientific exercise; it has come together after many months of hard work by a team of dedicated government, community, and external development partners. Founded on the principles of UNAIDS’ Investment Framework and that of a National Strategic Plan of the Third Generation (NSP3G), our NHIP will drive the next three years of the Nepal National HIV Strategy 2011-2016. It prioritises key actions that must be taken for Nepal to successfully achieve the ‘Getting to Zero’ vision.

Review of the Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium, August 2013

In May 2013, the Government commissioned this Review to take stock of the NRRC’s progress and achievements, as well as assess whether its strategies, architecture and investments were appropriately aligned with Government priorities and the planned new DRM structures. The Review will also inform current and future DRM work plans and advance planning for the post-2015 context, when the current phase of the NRRC is due to end.
