Multidimensional Poverty Index

This report presents Nepal’s official national Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) using the latest data from the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) 2014. Based on the Alkire Foster methodology, the MPI counts the joint deprivations faced by individuals.Following the indicators of the global MPI, the Nepal MPI includes multiple indicators related to health, education, and living standards.

Clearing Away The Rubble : Moving Beyond Blockages to Reconstruction Progress

The Government of Nepal’s (GoN) National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has reported that as of October 2017 only 19.5% of households eligible for the GoN’s reconstruction/repair grant have started construction. It has been widely discussed among reconstruction partners for a number of months that reconstruction is moving at a slower pace than was hoped. The Inter-Agency Common Feedback Project asks 2100 respondents from earthquake affected communities, every other month, if their main needs are being addressed.

Flood Perception Survey Round-I

In October 2017 the Inter-Agency Common Feedback Project completed 1800 Community Perception Surveys at the household level with community members randomly selected from throughout 10 priority districts. This project was introduced as a result of the catastrophic flooding that took place in August 2017. This was the first round of data collection in flood affected districts.

National Conference: Towards Planet 50:50 - Enabling Women's Representation and Participation in Local Governance

Women are significantly under-represented in political and electoral processes everywhere in the world – be it as voters, candidates, elected representatives, or electoral administrators. The Election Commission Nepal, together with the United Nations Gender Theme Group and the Sajha Abhiyan (Women's leaders' Coalition) organized on 20-21 April 2017 a national conference in response to the identified shortfalls in terms of women's participation and representation.

Integrated Training Package on Emergency Preparedness and Response for Rapid Response Team

Nepal is a disaster-prone country and faces various types of natural and man-made disasters, the most frequent natural disasters being floods and landslides. Nepal also lies in an earthquake-prone zone and the 2015 earthquake was a devastating one. All these disasters not only cause deaths and casualties, but also displace people and cause infrastructural damage.

Nepal UNDAF 2013-2017: Evaluation Summary

The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2013-2017 guided 23 UN agencies in their support to the Government of Nepal. The UNDAF originally budgeted $634,525,000 USD to be mobilized and delivered during this period on ten UNDAF outcomes. As of the end of 2015, the UN Country Team (UNCT) has delivered $265,975,969 USD with two years in which to mobilize and deliver the remaining $368,549,031 USD.

My SDGs, My Responsibility

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is expected to shape the world’s common future for at least the next 15 years. With half of the world under the age of 30, it is crucial that young people are put at the forefront of change and development. In Nepal, never before have there been so many young people. Right now Nepal has the largest productive youth population compared to the dependent population in its history. Therefore young people have the right to participate in decision-making processes at all levels. They have a crucial role to play in the implementation of the SDGs.
