15 December 2011

Kathmandu, 15th December 2011: SNV and UNICEF in Nepal have formally expressed their intent to collaborate in supporting the Government of Nepal in achieving universal and sustainable access in WASH through capacity building, knowledge management and advisory services.

Though an informal collaboration already existed between the two agencies, the new step formalises joint efforts primarily targeting the Mid West region of Nepal (especially the Karnali zone) as well as national policies. This collaboration will be valid for three years, with the provision of expansion to other geographical areas, and hosting international knowledge-sharing events depending upon the situation and emerging opportunities.

UNICEF has appointed two senior staff as facilitators for the collaboration. The progress made will be reviewed through annual meetings and each partner will ensure consistent follow up of jointly developed the action plans.
