Agenda: 2012 Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium (NRRC) Flagship Area 5 Thematic Consultation Meetings

Flagship Area 5 on Policy/Institutional support for disaster risk management (DRM) focuses on the following priority 

areas: 

• Institutional and policy support to implement the national strategy for DRM 
• Strengthening the application for building codes and supporting risk sensitive land use planning 
• Strengthening national institutions for DRM capacity building 
• Orienting financial mechanisms toward risk reduction and risk management 
• Support for mainstreaming DRM and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) into development planning processes at  all levels 

These priority areas require ongoing participation and coordination from a wide range of stakeholders including  government ministries, development agencies, private firms, academic institutions and other partner organizations.In order to identify the gaps, progresses, updates and ways forward in the above Flagship 5 priority areas, a series of  thematic briefing meetings will be held each month to generate dialogues and share information and updates with Flagship  5 stakeholders.  The purpose of these meetings is to provide information and updates on ongoing processes and to help strengthen emerging networks for Flagship 5.  The meetings will be a concise mix of short presentations, panel 

discussions, and questions & answers followed by tea/coffee
